Day In The Life.... with Guille!

El Mago gets around quite a bit with all of his wild world travel, so we're going to get in on the magic with him. Right now.

 

 

First thing after a quick breakfast, Guille says "No way" to a solitary yoga session, and picks up his Brazilian pal, Gustavo Kuerten for a spot of tennis...hitting across two swaying boats!

A tricky task for sure, but for the two South American players with the best touch and balance, and most magic on the racquet, it was no problem at all. What a wild start to the morning!

So then, Guille dives right in. He was so hot entering the water that a DOLPHIN came by to see what was up, and says hello. You can see in his eyes that El Mago feels the "magic" coming from his aquatic friend.

This morning with Guille sure has been wacky...and highly unlikely...

Then immediately, the press comes rushing in..."Let's talk to Guille in his tight little suit and see what the story was with that dolphin," they're saying to their bewildered but amused television audience.

It takes a little extra time, but if you're going to hang out with Guille for the day, you better get used to these kinds of interruptions.

(Everybody wants him...)

After a quick lunch, which included a lot of French bread (Guille eats...ALOT!), our boy brings us out onto the tennis court. And whoa! Another surprise...he starts playing futbol! Does his talent know no bounds?! Coria shows us some mad skills! Sure enough, Coria's Argie pal, David Nalbandian gets so excited, he rushed out to play some ball with Guille too. Check 'em out here, showing off for us. A day to remember, indeed.

Just a quick shower after tennis and soccer, and now he's on the way to his next activity, but everywhere he goes, they want those autographs...on their heads, on their shoes, even on pieces of unused glass. Whatever they can find to give him!!!! This day gets stranger and stranger....

Well, we thought we had seen everything, but no!

Guille went out and found this building that had been cut in half (just kidding) and got it in his head that he was a Roman Soldier, so we went to a costume shop to live out his dream.

Before you know it, Guillermo Coria is in full gear and ready to take on all comers! He is really making us laugh. And what great jeans. This guy has it all.

I just don't see how it could get any better than this. What a day!

But our boy Coria is so good, he DOES make it better. MUCH better. He takes off his shirt and spends a good 3 hours showing us why he is one of history's most dynamic players. If you thought you had fun earlier in the day, it is at this moment that you realize why all the other exciting hijinks is insignificant in comparison. This is like watching an artist build his craft, and now the day has reached nirvana.

Just as you thought you were coming down and regaining some semblance of reality at the end of this dream of a day, Guille is all cleaned up and just wants to blow off some steam.

"Get in, let's take a ride!" he says, still in his tennis socks, and ready to go into hyper-drive jetting across the water.

 

("Wow," you think, "when did he learn english so well?")

 

By now, you were ready for dinner, of course, but Guille had another detour planned....how to keep up with this guy? Doesn't he ever tire????

Well, he's never too tired to take a moment to look even better. He wants to get his hair trimmed just right before getting the evening under way.

And just wait, it will be worth it.

That's RIGHT. Guillermo was just trying to get the "cool" stylin' just right, so that when he started jamming on that guitar, he would ROCK YOUR WORLD.

The ultimate perfectionist, you weren't just going to hear some notes and some singing, but that look was going to be flawless. But if you thought he was not going to wear his ADIDAS sweatshirt, but some crazy rock costume, you've got the wrong guy. He's rock n roll with a racquet. Everything's in order...

So what song did he play? Whatever you want, because this day is HIGHLY unlikely and getting more-so by the second....don't break the momentum. He even sings the song in whatever language you speak.

Wow, this may be just about the best day you've ever had. But dinner didn't turn out as you planned, because this musical rock out was followed by a quick 'to-go' dinner and a quick checking of emails....which wasn't as quick as you hoped because Guille had about 400 emails to pile through, chosing only three to be polite, but also because he must save the strength of his nimble fingers for a little later on...which will be the BIGGEST SURPRISE OF ALL. What does Guille have up his sleeve? Trust the magician...

"I'll just answer 3," he says.

Dream of dreams, it was a night match.

And it was the finals...but it took so long, the sun was shining bright by the time it was over!!!

And of course, Guille won.

He was not going to let you down on your special "Day in the Life" with Guillermo Coria! Of that, you can be doubly certain.

"Okay, amigos and amigas...I have to go back to my regular life now, as Carla was all too kind to give up a day with me for this rare oppportunity to share non-tennis photos with all my fans from around the world," he says.

"But I'm glad we spent such a wild day together. Let's do that again some time."

Well, what a day. After all of that, I'm sure you're going to sleep for a week! But make sure to wake up before the next tournament begins!! "The magic" does not wait...
